Thanks to friends and others who already know

This is obvious when you think, but I put this article first because it is much more useful than talking to strangers in the grocery store. When you meet someone you think you are also potentially meet all their friends on the road. It is more of a long and indirect path to meet people, but keep on your radar.

If I had to choose, I'd rather see a solid, likable person somewhere, and then slowly get to know all their friends over time, rather than meeting five new people that I only get along with more superficially.

Friends meeting is also a higher quality "to meet" as opposed to a complete stranger. The ice is already broken. You have features in common (your mutual friend, if nothing else). They are likely to be friendly and aim to chatting with you. This pre-screening features that you like, because they already know your friend. Are you sure you spend time with them and know them. It is very likely to see them more than once.

Ideally, you will meet with the person who has lots of friends, is the center of his social circle, and still is invited to parties or run themselves. Do not ignore the lone wolf type too.

If you already have a few friends, you can make a conscious effort to meet their friends. You could throw a party or event at the invitation they bring other people they know.

Also take a friend with you easier to approach other guests. Two people are approaching a group to talk is a bit 'less intimidating than having a person make an approach, on both sides.

This general point can also work in a much smaller scale. As you can start a conversation with a man in a bar and two minutes later, will be presented to friends.
